The amounts that were allocated as a state subsidy for the consumption of electricity in the period 2022-2023 are required from professionals, according to the president of the Professional Chamber of Athens (EEA), G. Hatzitheodosiou.
As stated in its statement in recent days, complaints are constantly reaching the Chamber from professionals who are suddenly overloaded with large amounts of electricity, while it speaks of “cases of MPs who are forced to pay hundreds of euros to suppliers, even within a few days”.
“As we know, these amounts were recorded at the time as a state subsidy,” Mr. continues. “However, in the end, their payment was never approved by the European Union. And now, following a recent ministerial decision, the companies have started the process of collecting these amounts.”
We consider everything that is being done to be unacceptable and we call on the competent ministries to answer some reasonable questions:
-All these current debtors would they have been informed as clearly as possible that these amounts would be due?
– Didn’t the State itself take charge of reducing the electricity bill through subsidies?
-How ethical is it to ask a professional to pay within a few days? – are there any relevant accounts at the disposal of the AEA – a non-negligible amount? Has anyone ever wondered whether this man, in the conditions prevailing in the current market with such precision and high operating costs, can have the ability to pay any amount on time?
-As the government at some point knew that there was no approval from the European authorities, Why didn’t he inform the debtors in time?
As a Chamber, we demand clear answers, in a simple and understandable way, from someone responsible and not a reference to a diary or to ministerial decisions of the past. Citizens have the right to know all the details related to issues such as how their family and professional budget is determined by their development.”
