Shortly before the start of the NATO Summit, the Alliance’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said he hopes the US remain a “faithful” NATO ally regardless of the outcome of the US elections in November.
“I hope that whatever the outcome of the election, the US will continue to be a strong and loyal ally of NATO,” Stoltenberg told reporters.
Package to Ukraine
At the same time, he stressed that he hopes the Allies will reach an agreement on a significant package to help Ukraine in the war against the Russian invasion, adding that the aid will serve as a bridge to Kiev’s integration into the Alliance.
Speaking at the NATO summit, Stoltenberg added that it was too early to say when Ukraine would be accepted as a NATO member.
Furthermore, he noted, while NATO sees no imminent military threat against any member of the Alliance, it does see a pattern of increasing Russian hostile acts ranging from disinformation to sabotage.
