Do Not Pass the 6 days work calls the Communist Party, asking that “the circular from the Ministry of Labor be revoked here and now.”
“That’s enough! Don’t let the 6 working days pass! Revoke here and now the circular of the Ministry of Labor, which is a “declaration of war” against the working class and its rights and was issued at the request of the employer,” the KKE states in its leaflet and adds:
“The Truth About the 6-Day Work Against fake news issued by the Ministry of Labor and the employer:
– The 6-day work concerns the factories many branches (e.g. Metal, Energy, Water, Food – Beverages), private healthcare, transport, ports and loading and unloading areas in general. The application can also be extended to supermarkets, e-commerces and warehouses of these companies.
– 6 days work is mandatory unilaterally to the employee by the employer. The employer can impose 6 working days with the justification of the increase in working hours. In other words, contracts are based on the business’s profit needs!
– The 6th business day no is replaced by days off in the following weeks, since the total legal working time for each week is 48 hoursS.
– The 6th working day does not correspond to an extra day stamp».
The KKE adds that “with the implementation of the digital card in various sectors:
– An hour of unpaid work is given as a gift to industrialists under the pretext of preparing the employee to take up the job and then leave it! In other words, employees must go to work half an hour early and leave half an hour later, and this time should not be considered working time.
– The employer is given up to 3 days per month to exploit workers for as many hours as he wants, as long as up to 3 single taps of the card (i.e. without being tapped at the beginning or end of the shift) do not result in a fine for the employer!
– No working hours are declared for employees classified as managers. However, there is no substantial and objective criterion for this characterization (e.g. particularly increased income). In other words, even part-time employees can call themselves “managers” and work open hours!
– Responsibility for correctly punching the card is transferred to the employee.
– The break is not considered working time and extends working hours.
– The employer is given the possibility of changing the start and end of working hours every day within a 4-hour interval, without even considering the continuous change of working hours as abusive.
The following must be added:
– In the shame of working 13 hours a day for several employers!
– In the 9-13 hour workday, in the 78 hour work week of the agreement, without overtime pay, in the hope of having time off in the future!
– In “on-demand employment” where the employee will be ready to work without receiving pay and if the employer notifies him he must go to work within 24 hours!
– In execution judgment period in all employment contracts (for an indefinite period and for a fixed term) with automatic (!) termination of the trial contract if the trial period is considered unsuccessful by the employer. In other words, the way is open for the dismissal of even those categories of workers who enjoyed rudimentary protection (e.g. pregnant women, trade unionists, etc.).

“The European Working Time Directives, which are the bible of exploitation and unpaid work, are a weapon in the hands of big employers and the government,” the KKE stresses, adding, among other things: “The confrontation between the government and the others is the hypocritical urban parties, because they all together voted for and implemented excessive working hours, wage freezes, the abolition of collective bargaining agreements, the gradual abolition of the Sunday holiday. Each step prepared the next!”
“It is a lie that the examples of the 4-day work only apply to other countries. In Greece, in the “Greek gold” mines in Halkidiki, the employer tried to implement a “new program”… with 12-hour work – 4 days and the abolition of holidays, exploiting the shameful agreement! This has been hampered so far by the multi-day strike of the miners, which the KKE has supported from the very beginning! That is why the response to the 6-day work is not another form of extermination and intensification of work, but rather the demand for a fixed and reduced daily working time”, points out the KKE.

“With ever-increasing hours a day in which workers work without pay and the result of their work, the vast wealth produced, goes into the pockets of a handful of worms! This is also the core of capitalist exploitation: the unpaid working time of workers!”, he adds and underlines:
“All governments to date, all parties, from ND, SYRIZA and PASOK, to Velopoulos and the New Left are all accomplices!
The KKE today highlights the possibility, with the enormous development of technology, the development of artificial intelligence and automation, of workers working less and enjoying more, even of abolishing heavy and monotonous tasks.
One obstacle to this is capitalist ownership and power, the capitalist system whose oxygen is the exploitation of the working class to increase the profits of the few.
Stressing that “in all sectors and in all businesses to sound the alarm!” the KKE states that “the combative and assertive response can be given by the working class and the trade unions, coordinated and determined. We will not wait until the next elections for any supposed “savior”.
“The KKE will once again do what it promised the people. It will throw all its forces where anti-people decisions are truly overturned, on the path of struggle and counterattack,” he notes in the KKE brochure and concludes:
“Contemporary for workers is the reduction of working hours, with fixed hours of 7 hours – 5 days – 35 hours, with health and safety measures at work and with wages that meet their needs.
