Cara Delevingne admitted that he started using it when he was just 8 years old.
In an interview with UK Sunday OccasionsThe supermodel has reflected on her sobriety journey since photos of her at an airport in 2022 went viral among followers.
“It was a foolish decision to go straight from a competition to work. I should have waited a day. However, it was going to happen to me anyway, there were so many pictures of me in the market looking drunk,” she told the publication.
“Mind you, I signed up for this, this is my job, this is what I do. However, without it could I be sober now? I would never have been Sally Bowles in the West End, I’m very happy about that,” the 31-year-old added.

She also explained that she would still be affected by the devastating fire that completely destroyed her home in March if she wasn’t sober.
“It sucks, but everyone was safe and, like, if I wasn’t sober, I would still be recovering from this. It’s still going to affect me deeply,” she said before adding that she’s still sad about it but doesn’t let it get her down.
A catastrophic fire burned down Delevingne’s Los Angeles home earlier this year. The blaze started at night and required a massive response from the fire department. Luckily, everyone — including her two cats — made it out alive, but her home was engulfed in flames. Only Construction Murders the star was in London at the time.

In addition to being able to look at the world in a more optimistic way, Delevingne also revealed that her sobriety has made her realize how much she is like her mother, Pandora Delevingne.
“I really think the older I get, the more I see how comparable my mom and I are. She’s managed to survive for a long time. She’s really good,” Delevingne explained.
“I feel like there are really big issues with my mom and really bad issues as well. It makes the whole scenario worse,” she added, her mother had her own personal addiction battle and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. “When I was younger, I would talk about it freely because I didn’t really realize it. But it affected me, so I felt like it was my right to talk about it. I really feel bad about it.”

Delevingne has also been open about her personal past, revealing that she entered rehab after paparazzi photos of her and studies into her habits began to paint a troubling picture of the model in 2022. Speaking to Vogue in 2023, she opened up about her turbulent year and her ongoing battle with addiction.
She admitted she went into a tailspin in 2022, ahead of her 30th birthday. She explained that when the photos were taken of her, she had just returned from a three-week stint in Ibiza, followed by a visit to Burning Man.
“That is when the photos were taken. I used to be like, ‘Wow, okay, this is dangerous.’ At that time, there were a lot of people who were really scared, understandably,” she recalled in a video for Vogue. “I wasn’t really scared, though. That’s the nature of the disease, that’s what habit is.”

“I didn’t look good,” she also told the publication. “It’s heartbreaking because I thought I was having fun, but sooner or later it was like, ‘Okay, I don’t look good.’ Sometimes you need a reality check, so in a way, these photos were something to be happy about.”
At the time, Delevingne said she was committed to a long-term course of therapy, adopting a 12-step program and weekly treatment sessions.
