Scarlett Johansson says her co-star, Channing Tatumis one half of Hollywood’s sexiest couple alongside his fiancée, Zoë Kravitz.
Chatting with ET at the premiere of his new film, Make me fly to the moonin New York on Monday, the 39-year-old actress had nothing but good things to say about Tatum, 44, and Kravitz, 35, who she starred with in 2017 Hard night. Kravitz and Tatum got engaged in October 2023 after two years of dating.
“They’re just a terribly ugly couple,” Johansson said sarcastically about her friends, adding that she was just talking about how beautiful they are. “I was like, ‘This is the hottest couple I’ve ever seen.’ It’s absurd.'”
According to the two-time Oscar nominee, Tatum and Kravitz weren’t just blessed with good looks. Johansson says it’s almost unbelievable how well-rounded and kind they are, both individually and together.
“It’s not hard to fall in love with Channing Tatum. He’s such a wonderfully warm and charismatic person, and he’s so professional. He’s so kind, the team loves him,” she shared. “He’s like a total jokester and prankster and, you know, loves to pull his braids. He’s just a joy to be around.”
Johansson had similar praise for Kravitz, adding, “She’s also a wonderful, real person, beautiful inside and out.”
Tatum and Kravitz met in 2021 while filming her feature film directorial debut, Blink twice. The couple rarely makes public appearances together or talks about their love with the press, which only makes their infrequent comments and interactions all the more adorable.
In January 2023, Tatum spoke to Vanity Fair about being exposed for being adorably following countless Instagram fan accounts for Kravitzfor which fans applauded him warmly.
“I have no peace of mind,” he told his then-girlfriend of his fandom exit. “I was just watching what she was doing! Plus, I didn’t know anyone would know.”
Johansson’s own partner isn’t half bad either. The actress attended the Make me fly to the moon debut with her husband of almost four years, Saturday Night Live head editor Colin Jostand smiled sweetly for photos with him by her side. The couple — who began dating in 2017 and tied the knot in October 2020 — share a son, Cosmo, 2. Johansson also shares daughter Rose, 9, with ex Romain Dauriac.
While Johansson stars in the film, she also dons her producer hat on the project, which follows the romantic relationship between a marketing expert (Johansson) and a NASA director (Tatum) during the 1960s Space Race and the Apollo 11 mission. Johansson plays Kelly Jones, who is tasked with putting together a pre-recorded (and completely fake) version of the moon landing in case NASA’s real mission fails.
The actress says she is optimistic that fans who see the film will leave feeling excited and hopeful about the future of the original films.
“I hope they love this original concept. I think it’s, you know, unfortunately, increasingly uncommon to see an original story on screen,” she shared with ET.
Johansson added: “I hope it will be a welcome relief for viewers this summer.”
Make me fly to the moon — which also stars Ray Romano, Woody Harrelson, Jim Rash and Anna Garcia — opens in theaters on July 12.
