Skilla Baby Talks About Detroit’s Best Rapper
When talking to Keke PalmerSkilla Baby argued that Eminem is not the best rapper from Detroit, noting that the title changes due to inconsistent production from local artists.
“I don’t know, because if you think about numbers, Eminem is the best rapper in Detroit. But the joke is that nobody would say that in Detroit,” Skilla said.
When Keke asked Skilla who his favorite rapper from Detroit was, he said he wasn’t sure because everyone had their moment at the top in the city.
“Everybody’s had their turn to be Detroit’s favorite rapper. Sada Baby had his turn, Tee Grizzley had his turn, Dugg had his turn, Babyface Ray had his turn, Veeze is one of the best rappers in Detroit, Baby Smoove. There’s a lot of artists that have had their turn. Everybody’s had their turn to be the best in the city. But what we lack is consistency. Nobody has consistently been the best rapper or favorite rapper in Detroit,” Skilla continued.
Additionally, Skilla Baby maintained his viewpoint on Eminem. He stated that while Detroit respects Eminem, he does not believe that the legendary rapper would currently be considered the best rapper in the city.
“But nobody in Detroit plays Eminem now, I’m not gonna lie. And I was an Eminem fan growing up. I’m an Eminem fan, but we consider him our best rapper. I don’t think Detroit does,” Skilla explained.
