O inflation in Turkey fell to 71.60% in June, according to official data released Wednesday, below expectations, also due to rising prices in education, housing and catering.
On a monthly basis, consumer price inflation in June was 1.64 percent, also below expectations, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute, compared with 3.37 percent in May. Annual inflation in May was 75.45 percent.
In a Reuters poll, economists had forecast annual inflation falling to 72.6% in June, below the May level, which was the highest since November 2022. It was expected to fall to 42.6% by the end of 2024.
The domestic producer price index rose 1.38 percent month-on-month in May, for an annual increase of 50.09 percent, the data showed.
