Travis Kelce was feeling the pressure when it came time to join your girlfriend, Taylor Swifton stage at Wembley Stadium during his London Eras Tour show.
The 34-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end opened up about the experience on Wednesday’s episode of his and his brother’s Jason Kelce‘s New heights podcast.
Travis revealed that he originally pitched the idea of joining his beloved pop star on stage as a joke.
“I mentioned it to Tay initially. I thought, ‘How funny would it be if I just rode out on one of the bikes during the 1989 was?'” he recalled. “She started laughing and said, ‘Would you really do something like that?’ And I said, ‘What?! I would love to do that. I’ve seen enough of the show, so I might as well put myself to work here.'”
Calling the moment he appeared the “perfect” and “safest” part of the show for him to take the stage, Travis brushed aside the only thought running through his mind as he carried Taylor to the couch on stage.
“The only thing I told myself was, ‘Don’t drop the baby. Don’t drop this. Don’t drop Taylor,'” he said, laughing. “The golden rule was, ‘Don’t drop Taylor. Get her to the couch safely.'”
He added that Taylor was thrilled with her appearance, saying: “I didn’t let Taylor down, so that’s what matters.”
Calling the moment “an absolute blast” and “an honor,” Travis admitted he’s seen the Eras Tour so many times that he ends up doing the choreography in the audience while watching the show.
Travis’ comments reflect what a source recently told ET about the surprise guest appearance.
“It was so much fun for Taylor and Travis to be on stage together at her show,” the source said. “It was definitely a new and defining point in their relationship and they had a great time getting the chance to share a personal side of themselves with the world. They are so happy with how it all turned out and loved seeing all the reactions from their fans.”
