Shannon Beador tearfully apologized to her daughters for her drunk driving arrest as cameras rolled for “The Actual Housewives of Orange County.”
Within the first seven minutes of the season 18 premiere, which Bravo released on Tuesday, the reality star broke down in tears as she told Sophie Beador, 22, and twins Stella and Adeline Beador, 19, that she was sorry.
“I mean, I took Sophie to school, I took Adeline to school, and your dad took you,” Shannon said as she looked at Stella, who was studying in Paris at the time.
“So it was my intention to come back and come to you,” Shannon continued, “and because of my mistakes, I couldn’t go, and I really feel bad.”
Shannon, now 60, let out a giant sigh and added: “I’m so sorry and humbled that I let you down. Like, what kind of person am I at 59?”
Stella looked at her distraught mother and said, “We’re glad you’re okay and no one was hurt.” Sophie added, “And that you take responsibility for your actions, learn from them, and grow.”
Shannon, still crying, told her friends, “I’ve never broken a bone, never had a concussion, never been in an accident, never been arrested, never been arrested for DUI, and I did it all in 10 seconds.”
Sophie acknowledged that the scenario “sucks,” but felt it “happened for a reason.”
“God has a plan,” Shannon insisted. “I completely see it.”
Sophie then praised her mother for “taking extra initiative” to determine “why issues have occurred” in her life and why she keeps “certain people” around.
The Bravolebrity agreed, saying the ordeal made her see who her “true mates” are.
In a later confessional, Shannon described what preceded her September 2023 arrest for DUI and hit-and-run, for which she was sentenced to three years probation, 40 hours of community service and a nine-month alcohol management program.
She mentioned that she “stupidly” went to her ex-boyfriend John Janssen’s house, where they “had a huge argument.”
Janssen allegedly called Shannon a “drunk idiot” before telling her not to get in the car.
“However, I crashed a second later because I revved the engine to let him know how mad I was,” she recalled. “And I lost control of the car immediately.”
Despite the emotional apology, Tamra Decide claimed in the following scene that she saw Shannon pour alcohol into her glass while backstage at one of her Tres Amigas comedy shows with Vicki Gunvalson shortly after the arrest.
At the time, Decide, 56, mentioned that Shannon was “telling people and the press that she wasn’t drinking.”
That’s when the former co-owner of CUT Health “just lost respect” for her former friend, who “could have killed herself” or “her dog.”
Shannon’s castmates have expressed concerns about her eating habits before, but their fears have grown exponentially amid her on-again, off-again relationship with Janssen, who is now courting “RHOC” star Alexis Bellino.
While dealing with their breakup after nearly four years together, Shannon was arrested for drunkenly crashing her car into a house before fleeing the scene.
The founder of Actual for Actual then parked her car in the middle of the street and pretended to walk her Golden Retriever, Archie, who was in the car.
Season 18 of “The Actual Housewives of Orange County” premieres July 11 on Bravo.
