A morning visit, shortly after 6 o’clock, was made by the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the OSY warehouse.
The Prime Minister took a tour of the electric fleet bus by the competent minister Mr. Staikouras and Vice Minister Mr. Economou. He was also found inside a bus where he was talking to a driver. “I enter on the right” she said as she got on the bus.
“Our commitment to a new and better MMM”
“Today we are taking an important step towards implementing our commitment to new and better MMMs on the streets of Athens and Thessaloniki. The first 250 are already in circulation, 140 in Athens and 110 in Thessaloniki, and many more are to come, in Athens by the end of 2025 there will be 900 buses. The goal is twofold, on the one hand, to replace the old ones with modern and environmentally friendly ones, with sufficient air conditioning and accessibility for citizens with disabilities”, Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized.
“Those who have already used them will notice the change in the quality of their movement. They are financed by the Recovery Fund and are a response to the way important resources are managed. We also intend to increase the frequency of the routes. We are committed to focusing on the means of transport, starting with buses, to improve the overall quality of sustainable urban mobility in Athens and Thessaloniki. This is proof of the government’s emphasis on the daily lives of citizens. I am sure that the timetables will be respected by everyone so that citizens will soon see an improvement in the quality of their journeys,” he said in a statement immediately afterwards.
