Mariah the Scientist is heading into a similar situation as her public love, Young Thug. The singer-songwriter is reportedly going to trial over assault charges she faced earlier this year.
According to court documents obtained by TMZShe is requesting a jury trial after filing a waiver of the charge and pleading not guilty to assault.
Here’s Why Mariah the Scientist Has a Battery Charge
For context, Atlanta police officers locked Mariah the scientist in May. A woman named Cleopatra Fees accused the singer of attacking her at a local lounge for no reason. She reportedly has a child with Young Thug, according to TMZ.
Police documentation claims the incident occurred on March 29. However, a day or two before that date, a 30 second video of two women in a physical fight circulated online.
A rapper previously denied having a fight with Mariah
Fans initially speculated that one of the girls was Mariah and the other was rapper Cleotrapa. While the singer never addressed the viral video, Cleo, the rapper, clarified the matter on March 28 on social media and in an exclusive statement for The Shade Room. Her team told TSR that Cleo was in New York shooting a music video, and there was “there is no way she was in that fight.”
Now why the hell would I swing at my favorite! You have 25 minutes to clean this up! Bunch of liars

According to TMZ, the woman involved in the fight was actually Cleopatra Fees. Dues told police that Mariah The Scientist ripped off her wig and dragged her across the floor of Cavo Kitchen and Cocktail Lounge. Additionally, the mother claims she had no interaction with the singer prior to the alleged assault.
Police officers handcuffed Mariah The Scientist after she allegedly stopped by the police station to give her account of the incident. Now, Brian Steel is representing the artist as she heads to trial. This will likely be the first time we hear Mariah advocate for herself, as she has yet to address the beating on social media.
As for Brian Steel, his plate apparently has room to take on Mariah’s case due to a recent update in YSL’s trial. The trial of Young Thug and his co-defendants has been paused amid Steel accusing his presiding judge, Ural Glanville, of holding an “ex parte meeting.”
Glanville is now waiting for another judge to decide whether he should recuse himself from the case.
