Tougher new sanctions for MPs with problematic or unworldly behavior are being enacted by the German parliament.
The aim is to confront politicians who interrupt meetings with insults and of all kinds aggressive behavioras there has been an increase in these cases in recent years within the meeting room.
The relevant provisions – which will particularly target these parliamentarians they relapse– are a proposal from Chancellor Soltz’s three-party coalition and are expected to be voted on before the summer break.
Automatic fines
Under the new rules, fines will be applied automatically if the MP collects three observations return to classes within three weeks.
Barbel Bas, President of the German Parliament (and member of the Social Democrats from Solz) calls for the amount to be doubled “so that really hurt“, with fines starting at 2,000 euros and reaching 4,000 euros.
And a miscarriage
The final sentence will allow the speaker expel the deputies of the room, with the agreement of the majority, said Bass, who is also seeking the opposition’s approval for the specific measure.
Which, he says, is intended to send a message to misbehaving MPs that “their behavior disgusts the world».
Worse than bullies
Bass has repeatedly said he frequently receives letters from citizens and members of the public at meetings who “accuse us MPs of behaving worse than playground bullies».
She would also like to see fines imposed on MPs who film and photograph their colleagues and then post the images online with the apparent intention of defaming them.
“The ultimate goal should not be to punish parliamentarians, but to remind them that they must they treat each other with respectan increasingly rare habit,” concludes Bass.
