The withdrawal from the market of a batch of smoked eels, in which the presence of the pathogenic microorganism Listeria monocytogenes was detected, was announced by the Unified Food Control Agency (EFET).
In particular, as highlighted in the respective announcement, EFET and in particular the Regional Directorate of Epirus, during the inspections, took samples of smoked eel with the commercial name “SMOKED EEL FILLET” with batch number 1117324146 and expiry date 29/08/2024, which is produced and packaged in Greece by the company B. GEITONAS & SIA EE with registered office in Psathotopi Artas.

According to the respective statement, after examination by the Ioannina Veterinary Laboratory, the presence of the pathogenic microorganism Listeria monocytogenes was found in the sample above.
EFET has demanded the immediate recall of the entire specific batch of the product and the relevant controls are already underway. At the same time, it appeals to consumers who have purchased the above-mentioned product not to consume it.
