Ryan Reynolds revealed the third Dead Pool the film almost became a low-budget comedy on the go.
Several ideas were floated, including a superhero movie featuring Reynolds’ alter ego Wade Wilson and his cabbie Dopinder (Karan Soni) and the antics they get up to, but they finally decided to make the Deadpool and Wolverine film.
The 47-year-old actor said Weekly entertainment: “Literally, it was a $5 or $6 million budget, no special effects.”
“It was just a talkie-talkie road trip with me and (Karan Soni’s character) Dopinder and some of the things we collected and saw along the way. It wasn’t supposed to be an event film. If we’re on our way to Point C, it was supposed to take us only to Point B. That was the weirdest one. I liked it. I found it kind of fun.”
When Fox was merging with Disney, The proposal star doubted he would reprise his role and star in another Marvel film after 2016 Dead Pool and the 2018 follow-up Deadpool 2.
He told the outlet: “I didn’t know if I would ever play Deadpool again.”
“It’s not something I would necessarily say publicly, but I didn’t know how a character like that would fit into that world (of the MCU).”

Reynolds recently insisted he would not have done Deadpool and Wolverine without director Shawn Levy.
After working with the 55-year-old filmmaker on Free Face (2021) and The Adam Project (2022), he decided he would only work on the third film — which also stars 55-year-old Hugh Jackman as the iconic mutant superhero — if Levy was behind the camera.
Speaking to Deadline, Levy said: “Hugh, in 2011, Hugh said, ‘You know, if you meet Ryan Reynolds and work with him, you’ll never stop.’ He said that over a decade ago. And it took several years for me to meet Ryan, but the first time we met to talk about Free FaceIt was clear that we had both had successful careers, but we met at the right time.
“We are old enough to recognize a really good thing when we stumble upon it and don’t let go.”
“AND Free Face took in The Adam Project. It was on the set of Adam Project that Ryan told me he just wanted to do Deadpool 3 if I drove it.”
