J-ray took to his Instagram on Monday to share a lengthy message, in which he wrote that he is “having suicidal thoughts” following an incident in BET Awards 2024.
In an Instagram Story, the 43-year-old R&B singer detailed an incident at Sunday night’s awards show where he claims he was blocked and disrespected. He further claims someone paid him, but did not share additional details about who or what the alleged payment was for.
“The s**t that’s going on is mind-blowing – it’s making me suicidal and uncomfortable with the perception of reality! – THEY PAID ME TO KEEP QUIET AND I KEPT! – I FEEL WRONG AND HATE MYSELF FOR IT! I DON’T WANT ANY MORE OF YOUR DIRTY MONEY!!” Ray J wrote in part.
Along with the chatty caption, the singer reposted a photo of himself on the BET Awards carpet, where he said everything was going great — until it wasn’t. Ray J added that the troubles didn’t stop there.
“Then it all went wrong! – First at #BET and then later too! – I’m truly at a breaking point! – Providing for my family and having generational wealth was always the plan. – But money is evil and people are evil and I can’t take it anymore!” he wrote.
Ray J continued: “These chain reactions are a result of being stuck in a false reality/confused about this whole life! – The shit that happened to me tonight at the awards was painful – I was working backstage and then I went to take a break in the back and BET wouldn’t let me in for some reason – I don’t know who they didn’t want me to see – it was weird.”
The “Sexy Can I” singer was on BET’s coverage of the annual awards show and was expected to be backstage interviewing throughout the night. He did not indicate what he believes led to him allegedly being denied entry again.
According to TMZAfter the event ended, the TV personality also got into an altercation at the GloRilla after-party with a Zeus Network executive. At one point, Ray J allegedly threw a punch but didn’t hit anyone.
Continuing on social media, Ray J further alarmed fans by sharing a message directly to his sister, brandyand once again expressing dark and potentially suicidal ideas.
“(…) Soon after I die… I promise you I will be free (sic) from all of this and the world can move on with what is real to me,” he wrote. “I am so sorry to myself and my sister – sorry Bran, I will fix this, I will not let them get away with this!”
He added: “I TOLD PEOPLE CLOSE TO ME – THAT’S IT! I FELT LIKE SOMETHING WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. F**K. I SAID THAT.”
