The speech by former Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis is currently underway, at an event at the War Museum, where, a little earlier, Antonis Samaras he harshly criticized the government and the prime minister.
Karamanlis began his speech by formulating his thoughts on the direction of Europe on a series of issues, while referring to the recent electoral dispute and the high abstention rates, he sounded the alarm saying:
“When abstention reaches 60%, when 6 out of 10 voters abstain, as unfortunately happened in our country, it is not a time for complacency but rather for emergency alarm time. Delusions are neither tolerated nor forgiven. The vast majority of citizens who choose to abstain express their dissatisfaction and annoyance in this way. And, in fact, not with regard to a single specific party. For the most part, abstinence amounts to a total rejection of the political system and the form that public life takes.”
