The month of June this year was characterized by the absence of rain in most of the country, a fact that, combined with the extreme high temperature valuess, led to drought conditions in many areas.
According to its network of weather stations meteo.gr from the National Observatory of Athens (EAA), which has been operating continuously since 2006 to date, the absence of rain was detected even in areas with frequent rainfall during this period based on the average value for the period 2007-2023.
Where it didn’t rain at all
In the center of Athens it didn’t rain at all this June (June 2012 was the last month without rain).
It didn’t rain in Livadia and Sparta either.
Furthermore, even in areas with high precipitation values, according to the average value for the period 2017-2023, rainfall was minimal.
The table shows the variation of the total monthly rainfall amount for June 2024 relative to the average value for the period 2007-2023 at 10 meteorological stations across the territory of the network of automatic meteorological stations of meteo.gr/National Observatory of Athens.
