Jennie Garth is rebuilding her friendship with her ex-husband, Pedro Facinelliafter the couple had been at odds for years following their divorce.
O Beverly Hills, 90210 former student, 52, recently spoke about the status of her relationship with the Nurse Jackie actress, 50, during a new episode of her I choose myself podcast, released on Sunday.
“Guys, we’re officially friends now,” Garth said, explaining how much they’ve come a long way since then. the couple spoke about their divorce in a previous episode from her podcast in early June.
In fact, Garth said that things have apparently improved so much between them that he “even unblocked me on Instagram!”
“I was blocked on his social media for so long that I (stopped) caring years ago… but now I’m unblocked, guys. This is big news,” Garth explained.
Garth and Facinelli met while filming the 1996 TV movie An unfinished caseand ended up getting married in 2001. However, Facinelli filed for divorce in March 2012, three months after the couple separated.
The couple have three daughters — Luca, 27, Lola, 21, and Fiona, 17 — but their initial split was somewhat contentious as they battled over custody issues and tried to work on shared parenting.
Now, however, it seems the couple has found a way to move forward in their friendship. Facinelli even invited Garth to a very special occasion.
“He invited me to his son Jack’s christening,” Garth said, referring to Facinelli’s 1-year-old son, whom he has with fiancée Lily Anne Harrison. “And this week, get ready, we’re all going boating together, with the whole family!”
After his divorce from Facinelli, Garth met actor Dave Abrams on a blind date and the two married in July 2015.
In early June, Garth and Facinelli opened up about their relationship, and the actor reflected on their whirlwind romance.
“We got together really fast, really furious and really quickly and I remember thinking, ‘Well, let’s move in together and see how it goes,’ and it just happened,” Facinelli recalled of their romance. “Five years went by, and I thought, ‘Well, we should get married.’ So we got married and had another child. It was almost like an arranged marriage in a way and things seemed fine. We had disagreements here and there, but I guess we were just too young.”
“I had no sense of who I was, so I was just trying to be all these things for other people,” Facinelli explained. “When that fell apart, it took me a while to try to get in touch with myself.”
Echoing the sentiment that it seemed like they had “an arranged marriage,” Facinelli added, “I loved you and we had this beautiful family on the outside, but I hadn’t developed who I was. So how could you love me? I didn’t know myself.”
