Drake is the newest wax statue in Madame Tussauds’ New Year’s concert collection at its New York headquarters.
The wax museum announced the addition of Drizzy on July 1. On Instagram, he shared a video which gave a complete and detailed look at the Canadian rapper and also highlighted other wax artists.
“The rapper’s pose features his iconic owl hand sign, paying homage to his OVO brand and his unique connection with his fans,” the museum shared in a press release.
Drizzy’s wax twin sported a pair of cornrows with a thick, full beard, diamonds in both ears, and a thick diamond chain. The outfit mirrored the rapper’s latest style, featuring a distressed gray T-shirt, tie-dye khaki jeans, and a shacket, finished off with a pair of white Air Force 1s.
Drake’s new wax figure is part of the museum’s new Music section, which has undergone a multi-million dollar renovation. The New York branch’s marketing manager shared a statement about the “star” feeling the exhibit gave.
“Our new music experience is one of those magical spaces within the museum that immediately draws visitors in, so we’re confident that this reimagined area, which is more immersive than ever before, will bring a new level of excitement to the experience,” said Eliza Rose. “Plus, with so many top-notch musicians around, who wouldn’t feel like a star here?”
The rapper’s figure is joined by wax versions of Beyoncé, Dua Lipa, J Balvin, Elvis, Harry Styles and Megan Thee Stallion, to name a few. On his website, Madame Tussauds New York revealed that Merlin Magic Making designed the new Music Area.
Drake has the edge over Madame Tussauds’ wax figures
This isn’t the first time the international wax museum has debuted a Drake wax figure. In February 2023, the Drake figure took up residence at Madame Tussauds London. Its general manager at the time, Tim Waters, shared that Drake’s love for the city inspired the statue.
“Drake has demonstrated his love for London on countless occasions, with his surprise appearance at the Wireless Festival being just one example. With reports that he will soon call London home, we wanted to make sure we were able to give him a warm welcome to our streets and show that love is reciprocated in the only way we know how, by immortalising him in our famous attraction,” Tim Waters, general manager of Madame Tussauds London, said in a press release. by Billboard.
Drake has not publicly reacted to his latest wax figure. The rapper has maintained a calm profile since his rap beef with Kendrick Lamar reached a high point in April. Both rappers diss records traded back and forth for several weeks, criticizing their families, teams and music.
Ultimately, the standout replay value was Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us.” In addition to being the hit of the summer, the references to Lamar’s diss track went beyond entertainment, even playing politics.
