A joint action plan focused on defense was signed by Germany It is Polandreaffirming their military cooperation.
“We will seek to ensure transatlantic political unity and an optimal military presence of U.S. allies in Europe, including the eastern leg,” the plan states, according to the Reuters.
The two countries will deepen their cooperation at the government level to provide military assistance to Ukraine, including the repair and maintenance of Leopard 2 tanks.
Poland is also considering joining Berlin’s initiative for a European anti-missile umbrella, the European Sky Shield Initiative, the plan says.
The plan does not mention specific commitments on the issue of war reparations claimed by Poland.

Solz in Warsaw
The agreement was signed during the visit of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to Warsaw, where he met with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
These are the first talks between the Polish and German governments in six years.
In his joint statements with Solz, Tusk said Germany should be the leading security country in Europe.
Solz agreed that “Poland’s security is also Germany’s security,” according to the AFP.
“This means exactly that we (Poland and Germany) want to take a leading role in the Baltic region within the framework of NATO and in protecting the eastern side of the EU,” he added.
He also said that “Germany knows the gravity of its guilt, its responsibility for the millions of victims of the German occupation.”
