Michael J. Fox you can still destroy it on the guitar… taking the stage next door Chris Martin and Coldplay — and participate in a “Back to the Future” mashup that fans know so well.
The actor took to the stage at the Glastonbury Music Pageant in England on Saturday night as the band’s headliner… and you have to watch the video, which is a moving tribute to the film and TV legend.
The video begins with Chris and the team singing their hit “Repair You” — Michael is already on stage, sitting in a wheelchair and holding a guitar on his lap.
After a few minutes, CM walks over to MJF and sings part of the song on his knees so that they are both at eye level… you can see Michael’s palms moving as he strums and plucks the instrument.
It’s during an interlude in the band’s hit song that Martin really highlights Fox though… singing the lyrics to Chuck Berry‘Johnny B. Goode’ – the song sci-fi fans know that Fox’s Marty McFly played during the climax of ‘BTTF’.
Michael really comes to life in this part… swinging from his chair and even doing a kick like he did in the 1985 film.
The real problem… Martin credits “Again to the Future” with encouraging Coldplay to start their band — at which point the group erupts into raucous applause.
As you can imagine… Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s back in the early 1990s — and he’s mostly been away from performing and focused on activism lately as the disease has progressed. He gave fans an inside look at his life in his 2023 Emmy-winning documentary, ‘Nonetheless.’
That said, he’s still made time to play with Coldplay over the years… and clearly still has some musical talent in his repertoire.
In fact, a second musical that took the group back in time, Doc.
