In undertaking the initiative to restore school infrastructure in Sofades and Karditsa, Mr. OPAPwith the aim of supporting school units for students with special educational needs in the Karditsa Regional Unit, which hit by bad weather Daniel and devastating floodslast September.
Specifically, OPAP will renovate the school complex that houses the Special Unified Professional Gymnasium – Sofadon Secondary School and the Sofadon Special Professional Education and Training Workshop.
The dedicated school complex serves students with special educational needs from all over the Karditsa Regional Unit. OPAP’s renovation project at this school unit focuses on modernizing the school infrastructure, covering mechanical and structural elements, as well as equipment for daily activities. As OPAP’s Deputy CEO Odysseas Christoforou pointed out, “For OPAP, social contribution and solidarity are key priorities and supporting the areas affected by the unprecedented floods of last September was a natural thing. For all of us, therefore, the project in the special schools of Sofades and Karditsa is particularly important. Personally, I would like to thank the municipal authorities of the two regions for their constructive cooperation. I am sure that together we will improve the educational spaces in the special schools, as the children and teachers deserve.”
Furthermore, based on the integrated support of special schools in the region, OPAP will also carry out renovation works at the Special Kindergarten and Karditsa Primary School. In this context, OPAP will carry out interventions in the building that houses the two schools and will provide special equipment, in order to create an appropriate, pleasant and safe environment for children.
Target
The overall objective of the OPAP initiative is for schools to respond to the special educational needs of more than 100 students and their teachers. To carry out the extensive works launched in the building facilities of the school units, OPAP collaborates directly with the Municipalities of Karditsa and Sofadon.
