Jimmy Rollins says he wouldn’t mind if an MLB player never wore number 24 again… saying TMZ Sports Activities he would be down there to see Rob Manfred retire Willie May‘a quantity well known throughout the league.

After we shopped Rollins at LAX this week, he declared he was all for it…telling us, “It could be a great honor.”
J Roll went on to say that he thinks Mays is “probably the best baseball player to ever play the game” — and someone who deserves such a huge honor.
Mays, after all, has about as good a case as anyone for worthiness … having appeared in more than 3,000 video games, hit 660 home runs and posted a .301 batting average. He also won two MVPs and was named an All-Star an impressive 24 times.
It’s unclear, however, whether Manfred is thinking about that just yet.
