Arrows against the mayor of Athens, Harry Doukas, who yesterday announced his candidacy for the leadership of PASOK, launched by his predecessor in the municipality, Kostas Bakoyannis, with the fires that broke out yesterday in the hills of Kolonou and Filipappou.
“Either papas papas or zeugas zeugas. On Saturday the Kolonos hill almost burned down and on Sunday the Filopappos hills burned down. They were saved at the last moment, thanks to the neighbors and the timely intervention of the firefighters. The responsibilities of the municipal authority are great. Even greater because they turned a deaf ear to our appeals to the municipal council, when two months ago we warned them not to leave the hills of Athens, considering the fire-fighting season”, Bakoyiannis notes in his post.

Mr. Bakoyiannis emphasizes that it is “Mr. Doukas’ right to claim any position he wishes.” “However, his obligation is not to leave the municipality without a head or government. Athens is not a part-time mayor and cannot support a part-time mayor”, he highlights and adds: “Since, in fact, Mr. Doukas is prevented from exercising his functions, due to his party involvement, for the period in who is a candidate, must immediately transfer all responsibilities to his deputy, who will exercise them in accordance with the law”.
