Ice seasoning is ready to welcome her “firstborn” when her debut album, year 2000, falls at the end of this month.
“I’m giving birth on July 26,” she joked in an interview with ET’s Deidre Behar on BET Awards 2024 on Sunday in Los Angeles. “Everyone tune in.”
The 24-year-old rapper had previously provoked a “crazy collaboration” which was “blocked” earlier this year, but has remained silent on the name of the artist involved. Now, Ice reveals that there will be “more than one” collaboration on the album.
“There’s a couple,” she teased to ET. “That’s all I can say.”
Of course, fans have been clamoring for another collaboration between Ice and Taylor Swift. The duo previously worked together on the remix of Swift’s “Karma.” Since then, the 34-year-old singer has been an ardent supporter of the rising star.
Asked if Swift could “return the favor” after Ice jumped on “Karma,” she responded with a laugh: “I think she did me the favor.”
Do not rule out a partnership in Y2KIce shyly added, “I don’t know, we’ll see, we’ll see, we’ll see.”
Last year, Swift opened up about how the pair’s musical relationship came to be.
“Collaborating with Ice Spice on ‘Karma’ was one of the most natural things,” Swift said in an audio excerpt shared by Spotify. “She reached out to her team, just saying, ‘Hey, Ice’s been a huge fan of Taylor’s since he was a kid, I’d love to collaborate if that were to happen.’”
It turns out Swift was already a huge Ice Spice fan. “I was listening to her non-stop, like I was getting ready for my[Eras]tour, I was just listening to Ice Spice constantly,” the “Anti-Hero” singer revealed. “So I immediately got her number and said, ‘Hey, would you like to do your version of ‘Karma’?’ So she jumped on it.”
Ice was embodying the 2000s with her stunning red carpet look on Sunday, wearing a 2004 Versace gown from the fashion house’s Diva Alert collection.
“Like, are you kidding me?” she said of the dress. “That’s the inspiration right there.”
Sincerely, Y2K is named in honor of Ice’s birthday – January 1, 2000.
Ahead of the album’s release, Ice is getting ready to hit the road with her Y2K World Tour.
“I’m doing a little more choreography and I’m excited about it,” she shared.
As for the possibility of her having special guests on stage, including Swift or her “Barbie World” and “Princess Diana” collaborator Nicki Minaj, the door is open.
“They are busy women with sold-out tours,” she said, adding, “They are always welcome.”
