Crunchyroll has acquired “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Fortress,” which will premiere in theaters worldwide as a trilogy of films.
The three films will be distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Footage Entertainment worldwide, excluding some Asian territories and Japan. No release date has been announced.
The three-part cinematic films represent the final arc and fruits of the massively widespread, award-winning shonen anime series.

“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” is based on the manga series by Gotoge Koyoharu published by Shueisha’s Bounce Comics unit since 2018. It consists of 23 volumes and has sold more than 150 million copies.
The story begins when Kamado Tanjiro, a boy whose family is killed by a demon, joins the Demon Slayer Corps to turn his younger sister, Nezuko, back into a human after she is turned into a demon.
“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” first premiered in April 2019 with “Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc”, followed by the feature film “Mugen Practice” in October 2020, and the TV series “Mugen Practice Arc” and “Leisure District”. Arc” from 2021 to 2022. In 2023, the “Swordsmith Village Arc” debuted on Crunchyroll, shortly after the theatrical release of “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Swordsmith Village”.
In 2024, the “Hashira Coaching Arc” premiered, shortly after the theatrical release of “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To Hashira Coaching”. The animation production is by ufotable.
The most recent films – “Mugen Practice”, “To the Swordsmith Village” and “To the Hashira Coaching” – were commercial and fan successes. “Mugen Practice” currently holds the record for the highest-grossing anime film of all time and is the highest-grossing Japanese film at the international box office, grossing over $500 million to date. It is currently the second highest-grossing anime film in US box office history.
“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.
Sony acquired Crunchyroll in 2021 and merged it with its personal anime streaming platform, Funimation, but chose to maintain the Crunchyroll model and develop it as a streaming and cinema player.
Crunchyroll LLC is an independently operated three-way partnership between US-based Sony Footage Leisure and Japan’s Aniplex, a subsidiary of Sony Music Leisure (Japan) Inc. Ultimately, both are subsidiaries of Sony Group, based in Tokyo.
Individually, Sony recently announced that it will launch an academy to further develop creative skills in anime.
