His family Joe Biden urged him not to give up the race for her presidency of the US following last week’s disastrous debate, according to US media reports.
The US president met with his family at Camp David on Sunday amid pressure to withdraw from the election process.
As reported by the New York Times, Joe Biden’s wife, children and grandchildren have told him that he can still show Americans that he is capable of running for re-election.
Although his family acknowledged that Joe Biden’s performance in the debate was poor, they continue to believe that he is the best candidate to win the donald trump.
For its part, the Associated Press reported that the strongest voices urging Biden to resist the pressure are his wife, Jill, and his son Hunter.
“Shots” against the president’s advisors
The president’s family members also reportedly criticized the way his closest advisers prepared him for the debate.
Pressure for Biden to withdraw intensified after a CBS poll showed a 10-point jump (from 36% to 46% in February) following the debate over the number of Democrats who believe Biden should not run for president.
Biden’s approval rating has weakened since taking office, and concerns about his age and his handling of crises have grown.
