The purpose of the 2021 EBE established is to prevent candidates with low scores from entering HEIs. National exams.
In fact, the minimum threshold for having the right to present computer Science a candidate last year was the average candidate, without any weighting factor, greater than or equal to 8.34. We estimate that it will be the same this year.
The 2 factors that determine the Minimum Import Base
The EBE is different for each Department of the HEIs, because it is a product made up of two factors, the first being a coefficient that defines each Department separately and varies between 0.8 and 1.2.
The second factor is the average of all the writings of all candidates in each Area (this is a simplified expression to make it understandable). To determine this factor we need to know the grades of all candidates. Therefore, it cannot be determined before scores are announced. As special courses also participate, which have their own EBE, we must also know the grades of the special courses, to determine the EBE of each Department.
The Ministry of Education will publish the EBE for each Department after the release of candidates’ grades in special courses. Therefore, we still do not know the EBE of the Departments. The good thing is that the EBE adapts to the candidates’ performance, precisely because its only determining factor is the average performance.
In the following document, we present our evaluation of the EBE 2024 training, for all Computer Science Departments, except for Departments that require an exam in a special course for admission. We do not know the grades for special courses, therefore we cannot determine the EBE in these Departments.
Estimates with very little deviation
The grades published by the Ministry of Education are aggregated by subject. This makes sense, but it creates a small deviation in our estimates for the EBE formation. In other words, we know that in each course from 18 to 19 there are so many candidates. The Ministry of Education knows exactly all the grades, so the Ministry’s calculations are more accurate. They usually differ from ours to the second decimal place.
What doesn’t make sense is that the Ministry of Education doesn’t disclose the candidates’ averages. That is, so many thousands of candidates have an average of 18 and 19 years in all four courses. The non-availability of this information creates significant problems in assessing the base formation that will follow.
In the table you can see our estimate of maximum and minimum EBE by Scientific Area. If the Department of your interest is included in two or more Areas, then the EBE will be considered the lowest EBE of the Areas to which the Department belongs. If, for example, a Department belongs to the 2nd and 4th Field, then the EBE of that Department will be the EBE of the 4th Field.
