Kodak Black is doubling down on his attempt at a sober lifestyle! The Florida rapper recently got candid with fans about which lyrics from his hit ‘Super Gremlin’ he no longer stands by.
For context, ‘Super Gremlin’ reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 in April 2022. A few months earlier, in January, the music claimed number one on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart. It is reportedly certified platinum, for HipHopDX.
Now, more than two years later, he denounces the mention of Percocet use in the three-minute track. The lyrics go like this: “I knew the Perc was fake, but I ate it anyway / ‘Cause I’m a gremlin.”
Here’s What Kodak Black Said About ‘Super Gremlin’
In a video shared by X’s (formerly Twitter) account @omgmediaarchive, Kodak spoke to a live audience about his change of heart. He admitted to having second thoughts when writing the lyrics, but went ahead with it anyway.
“It’s sad, though, bro, because I’m like, ‘This shit’s gonna park in the mind real quick,’” Black shared on the mic. “I’m like, ‘Damn, I don’t wanna say this shit, but I know this bitch is gonna do it, bro.’ A nigga don’t play like that, bro.”
He continued, admitting that during his pill-popping days, he averaged “about 40 Percs a day” and sometimes as many as 100. “If I was playing with that fake shit, I’d be dead, bro,” he added.
“Let me explain myself now, I don’t want you guys to hear this and think it’s okay to do this shit, you hear me? Of course not,” he said at the end of the clip.

The rapper’s past comments about his drug use
black Kodak talked about its past use of Percocet in April via social media. At the time, he revealed that he had never felt “happier” after significantly cutting back on his intake of the drug. While he admitted that he was still not anti-Perc, he said his low dosage came as a surprise to himself.
Kodak Black isn’t the only celebrity who has recently embraced a drug-free lifestyle. Earlier this month, Quando Rondo opened up about spending the past eight months sober after battling drug addiction.
