Thanasis Theocharopoulos described this as a sad development for SYRIZA the two midnight posts in Stefanou Kasselakiswith which the latter addressed Alexis Tsipras.
“First he accused him of being a subversive, second he accused him of internal party games, in which he did not participate… I did not understand what he wanted. He was delusional,” Mr. Theocharopoulos commented emphatically to SKAI, adding that these are critical moments for the official opposition.
Instead of moving forward, we lost 3 more points
At the same time, he recalled that exactly one year ago, Alexis Tsipras resigned as president of SYRIZA, due to the painful result of the national elections. “Instead of advancing in relation to 17.8%, we lost another 3 points and 340 thousand votes”, he noted, adding: “People are judging, they understand that the result was disappointing.
Mr Theocharopoulos emphasized that from the USA, with announcements and without official bodies having met, the following was done:
- the early morning closing
- decisions on political expulsions
- yesterday’s posts
“Based on what happened last night, I think Mr. Kasselakis should have the say on all of this,” said Mr. Theocharopoulos, while when asked whether he should resign, he noted: “In what he wrote, there was it was a suggestion of resignation ».
“The Greek people said in the elections that none of the centre-left parties can do this alone. So this is a demand from the people and not a demand from the forces behind the scenes,” he stressed.
There are no dead ends in democracy
“There are no dead ends in democracy. We have to go to the base, there is no other solution,” he repeated and added: “If Mr. Kasselakis has not yet resigned – why is he asking someone else to take over, he should do so.”
