Here’s a buzzkill for Starbuds Flowers… Starbucks is taking the mobile marijuana business to court and claiming it’s stealing the coffee brand’s famous logo.
According to new legal documents, obtained by TMZ, Starbucks is suing Starbuds for trademark infringement. Starbucks says Starbuds, which sells weed out of a converted food truck in New York City, is deliberately copying its iconic mermaid design logo.
It doesn’t take a legal expert to see the similarities here… but Starbucks goes ahead and lays it all out in its lawsuit, claiming that the Starbuds logo lifted the two-ringed green circle and crowned mermaid from its coffee brand. , even using the same proportions.
In the lawsuit, Starbucks claims that Starbuds clearly intends to copy its brand with an equally confusing logo and name… and the coffee giant says it’s trying to stop Starbuds from using the images, without success.
Starbucks isn’t just upset about the marijuana truck logo… the corporation also claims that Starbuds is putting the images on pre-rolled joints and other marijuana products.
In the lawsuit, Starbucks claims that Starbuds is trying to cash in on its long-standing brand recognition… confusing consumers in the process.
Starbucks wants a court to order Starbuds to stop using the logo and destroy all products that already feature it… and make Starbuds forfeit any profits it made from the logo.
