Max Verstappen (Red Bull) took the lead in the sprint race at the Austrian Formula 1 Grand Prix and then took pole position, to start tomorrow at the Red Bull Ring.
On the Viennese track, the three-time world champion was followed by Lando Norris (McLaren) and George Russell (Mercedes), who came in third.
Towards the end, Lando Norris closed in on the Dutchman and was followed by Oscar Piastri in the second car (McLaren), but his time was disallowed for exceeding track limits and the Australian dropped from 3rd to 7th for tomorrow’s start.
Thus, George Russell (Mercedes) and Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) will line up on the second row, followed by Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) on the third row.
