In arrest of a 53-year-old manwho is accused for forgery and possession of third party travel documents, continued the Immigration Management department of the Directorate of Foreigners of Attica.
In particular, according to police, the 53-year-old man at least from 2020, developed activities in the preparation and marketing of false travel documents intended for the illegal trafficking of migrants or their illegal legalization in European Union countries.

Therefore ran a full-fledged forgery workshop specializing in asylum seeker forms of Greece and identity cards from the Italian authorities.
As ELAS points out, it is estimated that sums of money ranging between 300 and 800 euros per document were obtained from the negotiation of documents, depending on the type and country of origin of the document.
The 53-year-old man was located in the Patisia area and after a search of his home, among other things, the following were found and confiscated:
- 290 identity cards, of which 286 are Italian authorities,
- fully equipped workshop for preparing false documents (computer, 2 laminators, 2 printers, metal matrix with embossed Italian authorities and lots of stationery),
- driving license from the Italian authorities,
- 2 asylum seeker cards issued by the Greek authorities and
- 2 cell phones.
The specific case was implemented in the context of the implementation of the National Business Plan (NBS) and the EAST MED 2.2 Operational Action of the European Union policy cycle, which is led by Greece.
During the Action Day, the Foreigners Directorate was also reinforced with a special expert from EUROPOL, in order to assist with real-time data analysis using EUROPOL’s mobile data analysis unit (Mobile Office).
The detained person was taken to the Athens Criminal Prosecutor’s Office.
