Nick Viall doesn’t want his daughter, Pink River, following your path. O Bachelor former student appeared in the last episode of SiriusXM comes to 1 LA with Tony Fly and Symonand revealed why he doesn’t want yours and wife Natalie Joy4-month-old daughter on the reality show.
“Absolutely not,” Viall, 43, said about whether he hopes his daughter goes on to reality TV as an adult. “… I hope I do a good enough job as a mother that her options outweigh reality TV. I hope she thinks that’s beneath her. That’s what I hope for her.”
Viall noted that reality TV stars “give so much of themselves” to viewers, something he thinks River Rose will discover when she finally watches their appearances on Bachelor franchise.
He was introduced to Bachelor Nation on Andi Dorfman’s season The single woman in 2014, and in Kaitlyn Bristoweseason of the same show the following year. After a season in Bachelor in ParadiseViall led his own season of The Bachelor in 2016.
“Maybe it’s a teaching tool, because I imagine I’m going to give her a hard time if she watches any of the seasons I’ve been in,” he said. “Listen, I hope at the end of the day we do a good enough job as parents that she’ll make good decisions for herself.”
“Ultimately, once she turns 18, our work is done and it’s up to her to make decisions for herself,” Viall continued. “We will be there to support her, but I hope she has other options to follow her dreams.”
In the same vein, Viall rejected the idea of starring in a reality show alongside his wife and daughter.
“This has been addressed recently and (it’s) a hard no for me right now. We cover a lot of reality shows,” he said of his podcast, Viall Archives. “I’m a huge sports fan, so… I guess I really appreciate fandom. As a Green Bay Packer fan, not only do I enjoy rooting for the Green Bay Packers, but I love to hate the Minnesota Vikings.”
“Sometimes we can criticize people’s behavior, and sometimes those people maybe aren’t the best, and sometimes there’s editing and things like that. We recognize that. We’re covering characters, not necessarily people,” Viall added. “But I think being a reality TV star, especially your Vanderpump (Rules) cast and their Housewives who are recurring people, you really have to open up and talk about personal things. That’s not easy to do.”
Viall added: “Fans can be intrusive. I’m very protective of my family.”
“It’s tough,” he added. “I’m not aware of many reality TV relationships that have survived reality TV. You can’t have a good reality TV show without drama, so I’m not interested in trying to introduce unnecessary drama into my relationship.”
Viall and Alegria welcomed their first child in February and tied the knot almost three months later. Watch the video below to learn more about the couple.
