Hannah Gutierrez-Reed“Rust” gunsmith claims New Mexico prosecutors buried information that would have helped her prove the gun in the fatal shooting could have fired without Alex Baldwin pulling the trigger.
According to new legal documents, filed Thursday and obtained by TMZ, Gutierrez-Reed alleges that prosecutors were hiding exculpatory evidence during his recent manslaughter trial, which resulted in a conviction, and an 18-month prison sentence for her.
In the documents, Hannah’s lawyer, Jason Bowlesclaims prosecutors buried a report showing the gun had “unexplained” changes to the trigger that were likely not the result of FBI trigger tests and did not appear to be original manufacturing marks.
Hannah claims the gun went off on its own… and the report her legal team is talking about was filed as part of Alec’s pretrial proceedings.
Of course, Alec always insisted that he did not pull the trigger of the gun that shot and killed Halyna Hutchins on set.
Hannah claims that this evidence would have helped prove that she was not legally responsible for Halyna’s death…she says the prosecution “withheld bombshell defense evidence that it had a constitutional obligation to disclose and that would have resulted in a fundamentally different trial and probably a different outcome.”

Remember, Hannah has been trying to get her conviction overturned …and she believes that this evidence and the alleged misconduct of the prosecution are grounds for her to be released from prison, pending the resolution of her other appeals.
