‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ alum Shannen Doherty, who has been candid with her followers about her battle with cancer and her recent divorce, worries that men can’t handle her situation because they don’t “deal with death and disease… as well as women”.
Shannen Doherty definitely has a lot on her plate amid her ongoing battle with cancer and recent divorce from Kurt Iswarienko after 11 years. As she prepares to endure chemotherapy, Beverly Hills, 90210 alum opened up about the potential of dating again and why she fears it won’t happen.
The actress opened up about her fears as a single woman – who is also a person affected by stage 4 cancer – with Kelly Ripa in the last Let’s talk about digital camera podcast, within the episode released on Wednesday. There she shared that her possible “expiration date” could deter men.

“Listen, I think it’s burdensome for anyone like me, in my personal opinion, because it’s burdensome to start dating someone when you know they have an expiration date,” she explained.
Privately, she famously said, “I don’t think men deal with death and illness — most men, I don’t want to generalize and say all men — but they don’t deal with it as well as women.”
She also shared that she’s been extra vigilant about potential partners, telling Ripa that she quickly ended things recently with a man because “within half an hour she saw a red flag.”

Ripa quickly bought it into a match of her own, without naming names – although it could also have been a made-up person.
“He’s a New Yorker, even though he’s rich—that’s what you want!” Ripa advised her. “You want someone who’s rich, financially stable, not threatened by your fame, not intimidated by your fame. He’s older, he’s established. He presents himself very consistently, and I’ve never seen a dark side to this man.”
She mentioned that this man had too much “cheese” to cover any elective procedures Doherty might suggest, to which the Charmed alum responded that she was “bought.”
Basically, right now, Doherty said he’s looking for “companionship.” She also talked about dealing with physical insecurities after the various health procedures she underwent.
“I have so many surgery scars that it’s like, how do you explain that, ‘No, this isn’t from childbirth, this is from reconstructive surgery,’” she shared. “You start to feel, as a woman, I think very insecure about yourself.”
The 53-year-old said the last time she felt good about her body (and her physique) was when she was in her 30s and struggling to stay in shape. But then, “it all fell apart again” when she turned 40.
O Charmed The actress was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. While she was considered to be in remission in 2017, in 2019 she discovered that her cancer had spread as stage 4 to her brain and bones.

As she prepares for another round of chemotherapy, Doherty spoke earlier this week about her anxieties surrounding the procedures, which she joked are “throwing everything away” on her illness during the latest episode in her personal life. Let’s be clear podcast.
“It destroyed me in terms of liking it,” she defined. “Of course, I knew I had Stage 4, of course, I knew it was really critical, but when it’s important to go to the hospital and it’s important, you know, to be put down and a port put on you, it becomes very real. an extremely completely different way.”
Along with starting chemotherapy again, she is Plus, dealing with her tumultuous divorce from Iswarienko. Doherty is seeking spousal support from the Hollywood photographer, according to the legal request considered by VeryFab. She also accuses him of delaying the legal process “in the hope” that she “will not survive the divorce process.”
Despite that, Iswarienko’s lawyer disputes that statement, stating that the 49-year-old “wishes the best for Shannen” and hopes to “put this case behind us.”
