Here’s what supposedly happened
According to Fox 35 OrlandoRoss and her 25-year-old boyfriend allegedly got into an argument at home. The outlet adds that things got physical when Ross allegedly knocked the man to the ground. It is worth noting that the identity of the 25-year-old has not been publicly revealed.
Fox 35 Orlando reports that the man left the house, hoping to calm down. However, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd reportedly told the outlet that “in the process of calming down,” the man threw “a cinder block at her vehicle.”
ABC7 WWSB adds that Ross got into his vehicle with a 4-year-old and a 6-month-old. At that point, the man allegedly grabbed a 16-month-old boy and began running away from Ross’ vehicle. The outlet did not explicitly state whether all of the children were shared between her and her boyfriend.
Ross ended up running over the man and the 16-month-old child before allegedly crashing into a trailer.
According to ABC7 WWSB, Ross told authorities there were “several” instances where she acted like she was going to run over her boyfriend. Normally, she would “dodge” out of the way to avoid hitting him. In this case, Ross allegedly thought “he would have gotten out of the way.”
“Well, she said this, ‘I don’t think he got out of the way,’” said Polk County Sheriff Judd. Fox 35 Orlando.
How are the victims?
ABC7 WWSB reports that the 25-year-old man has been treated and released from a hospital. The man is reportedly suffering from bruising on his “body and lungs.” Meanwhile, the 16-month-old boy reportedly remains hospitalized.
The agency adds that the child suffered “a broken left shoulder collarbone, several broken ribs, a partially collapsed lung and abrasions and bruises on the body.”
Additionally, the Florida Department of Children and Families is evaluating a custody plan for the 6-month-old and 4-year-old.
“Aaliyah Ross made a series of incredibly unthinkable choices on Monday: running over a man and baby with a car, leaving the baby alone, and failing to get medical treatment for the obviously injured baby. Someone who would do this to a baby would do this to anyone – their uncontrollable rage is a threat to the public,” said Sheriff Judd, per ABC7 WWSB.
Finally, the outlet notes that the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
