Accelerating the implementation of the Smart Readiness program to power 120,000 buildings with ultra-high speeds through the installation of fiber optics by the end of 2025, ministers decided Digital GovernanceDimitris Papastergiou, and Environment and Energy, Thodoros Skylakakis, the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Nikos Papathanasis, and the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, Nikos Tagaras.
More specifically, in the Joint Ministerial Decision (Government Gazette B’ 3678/ 26.06.2024) it is foreseen that the National Land Registry Number (KAEK) of the vertical property will be used to identify the building, which will be automatically filled in by the system , after selecting the building to be subsidized when submitting the “Smart Readiness Vouchers” application.
Within the scope of the project, works related to the installation of fiber optic networks in the building are financed, in order to facilitate the provision of ultra-high-speed broadband services in all areas of the building (apartments, offices, stores, etc. .) .
Furthermore, with the aim of improving the “smart readiness” of buildings, the installation of infrastructures for the future interconnection of utility network meters (electricity, natural gas) with the central concentration point of the building’s electronic communications infrastructure is being promoted.
In addition, the necessary preparation is carried out for the installation and communication of appropriate sensors related to safety, the control of proper functioning and the carrying out of measurements related to the environmental footprint of the most basic common facilities in the buildings (central heating boiler and elevator ).
Single-family residential buildings and multi-family residential buildings located in the intervention area and which do not already have intra-building optical cabling are eligible.
Buildings owned by the State, Public Legal Entities and Private Legal Entities in the wider Public Sector are not eligible and are excluded from the action.
This is an important social and development project, which is financed by the “Greek Recovery and Resilience Fund 2.0” with a total budget of 100 million euros. It is implemented by the Information Society (KtP MAE) with an end date of December 31, 2025.
