KAE Olympiacos had indirectly announced a few hours ago the extension of cooperation with Giorgos Bartzokas and the formalization was not long in coming.
The Piraeus team announced that it had reached an agreement with the Greek coach for another year, that is, until the summer of 2026.
The two teams, management and coach, met on Friday and agreed to extend the contract, which would expire next summer.
First of all, it was a symbolic move that aims to show in practice the Angelopoulos brothers’ confidence in the coach and the project he is implementing, despite the loss of the Euroleague and the championship’s objectives.
In his second spell at Porto, Giorgos Bartzokas led Olympiacos to win two championships, three Cups, two Super Cups and three consecutive Final-4s in the Euroleague.
In his first stint with the “red and whites”, he won the Euroleague and the Intercontinental Cup in 2013.
The announcement:
“KAE Olympiacos announces the extension of its cooperation with Giorgos Bartzokas until the summer of 2026.
The main Greek coach, who led our team to win the Euroleague in 2013 and the Intercontinental Cup, in three consecutive finals (Belgrade 2022, Kaunas 2023, Berlin 2024), to win two Greek championships (2022, 2023), three championships Greek Cups (2022, 2023 2024), in addition to two Super Cups (2022, 2023) -and now he has his eyes on new successes-, he is the longest-serving coach in the history of Olympiacos basketball!”.
