In a highly anticipated move, the Los Angeles Lakers have officially called up Bronny James, the eldest son of NBA star LeBron James.
The New York Times reports that this historic moment marks the culmination of years of speculation and the realization of a dream shared by the Laker leader. However, Bronny’s joining his father’s team has subsequently sparked a debate about “nepotism.”

The 19-year-old was the 55th overall pick and will sport the gold and purple alongside his parents next NBA season. Bronny has been under a microscope for the better part of the last decade while competing on the hardwood. Bronny attended Southern California as the 17th best high school prospect in his class.
As previously reported by The Shadow Room, he entered the draft after playing just one year at the institution. LeBron’s son struggled to shoot baskets and averaged 4.8 points and 19.3 minutes in 25 games. Furthermore, critics began to question whether he could play professionally when he faced health problems. Bronny came in cardiac arrest during a USC practice game in July 2023. However, he eventually made a full recovery.

The Roomies shared their opinions on the family affair in The Shade Room’s report.
@_melaninxxmonore said, “A black man rising to the top and taking his BLACK CHILDREN with him… I don’t see a problem with that.”
“For those who say his father got him recruited. White men do this all the time for their kids, but now you want to complain. At least Bronny tried,” @jp_mega_ wrote.
@nasqueeenb disagreed, “I don’t like it, I’m sorry, it feels forced.”
She wasn’t the only roommate who had these feelings.
“As a basketball fan, this is crazy since Brony can’t play basketball. But I think we should celebrate black privilege, lol,” @fadeaway_pefect added.
What do you think, roommates?
