It was a rough few weeks for Timberlake, but it didn’t “ruin the tour” like he thought.
The singer was arrested on June 18 in Long Island, New York, on a charge of driving while intoxicated. A Sag Harbor police officer observed him driving a gray 2025 BMW and failing to stop at a properly posted stop sign and remain in his lane. The officer also reportedly said that Timberlake told him the arrest would “ruin the tour.” When the officer asked which tour he was referring to, the singer reportedly replied: “the world tour.”
“A traffic stop was initiated by an officer from the Sag Harbor Village Police Department and upon investigation it was determined that Mr. Timberlake was operating his vehicle while intoxicated,” a statement from the police department read. “Upon contacting (Timberlake), it was determined that (he) was operating the said vehicle under intoxicated conditions, as his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanated from his breath, he was unable to divided attention, he had slow speech, was unsteady, and performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.
Timberlake stated that he had “a martini”, which was later corroborated by the bartender who served him.
“Justin is feeling regretful, embarrassed and humiliated, but also responsible,” a source told ET, adding that Timberlake “doesn’t believe he needs help when it comes to alcohol,” instead seeing the incident as a “big lapse of judgment.” ”
