Gordon Ramsay made his first public appearance after terrible bicycle accident on Tuesday, throwing out the first pitch at the Boston Red Sox’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park.
Ramsay was spotted talking to some players and team staff before the game, before throwing a successful first pitch to cheers from the crowd. He appeared to be in good health and good spirits, despite having recently been in a frightening traffic accident.
Earlier this month, the Kitchen nightmares star took it to Instagram on June 15 and implored his more than 17 million followers to follow his advice when it comes to riding a bike: wear a helmet! The celebrity chef then shared that he seriously injured his body after “a very bad accident” while walking in Connecticut.
The father of six didn’t break any bones in the accident, but Ramsay lifted his white chef’s jacket in the video to reveal a huge, nasty bruise covering his torso.
“It really shook me up,” Ramsay said when sharing details of the accident. “Honestly, I’m lucky to be here. Now, from those incredible trauma surgeons, doctors, nurses and the hospital that took care of me this week, they were amazing. But honestly, you have to wear a helmet. I don’t care how short be the journey. I don’t care that these helmets cost money. But they are crucial. Even with kids, a short journey, you have to wear a helmet.”
Ramsay added: “Right now, I’m lucky to be here. I’m in pain. It’s been a brutal week. And I’m kind of getting over it. But, I can’t tell you how important it is to wear a helmet.”
Ramsey’s visit to the Red Sox game wasn’t his only stop in Boston this week. The celebrity chef also shared some tasty dishes from his restaurant Gordon Ramsay Burger with local firefighters on Tuesday.
“An incredible afternoon delivering @gordonramsayburger to the @bostonfirefighters in Engine 8 ladder 1!! Hope you enjoyed Gx,” he captioned an Instagram video.
