A 53-year-old French man died after a collision between two vehicles at the exit from the village of Vrysses towards Georgioupoli in Apokoronas, Chania, while his wife who was sitting in the passenger seat was pulled out seriously injured. The couple were on vacation in Chania.
The severity of the collision, which occurred at midday, was such that it was necessary for firefighters to intervene to free the man from the IX rental vehicle. The EKAV took the unconscious French driver and the seriously injured passenger, who is admitted to the resuscitation unit at Chania hospital, with her condition described by doctors as critical.
According to reports, the collision was due to the movement of a vehicle in the opposite lane, while the preliminary investigation was carried out by the BOAK Traffic Department.
The Greek driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision is hospitalized in a mild condition at Chania Hospital.
