Creator of “The Pocket Book” Nicholas Sparks is regretting Gena Rowlands‘ battle with Alzheimer’s disease – feeling for her and her family, and fascinated by the sad parallels with the classic book and film.
Nicholas says… “Alzheimer’s disease is such a merciless disease. On days like now, I’m reminded of Gena’s highly effective portrayal of Allie and the depth she brought to the character. Her performance touched millions of hearts and helped bring my story to life in ways I never imagined.”
In fact, Gena’s character in the major film adaptation of Nicholas’s famous novel struggles with the same illness that she is now dealing with in real life.
On social media, Nicholas shared a throwback photo of Gena and himself on the set of ‘Pocket Book’ along with his heartfelt tribute… saying he’s truly honored to have worked with “such a talented artist.”
