Los Angeles Lakers Coach JJ Redick is categorically denying that he called a girl the N-word while a member of the Duke men’s basketball team… saying the interaction simply never happened.
Halleemah Nash — a writer, speaker and Duke alumnus — dropped the bombshell allegation on social media Tuesday … claiming, “I’ve only been known as the N-phrase to my face by a white man once in my life and it aired on the Duke University campus while I was working with the basketball team.
“And now he’s been named the new head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. What world.”
Redick – a former Duke high school basketball star and 15-year NBA veteran – was released because the twenty-ninth head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday.
The allegation was posted to Nash’s account at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday… and, as of this posting, has been viewed 10 million times.
We reached out to Redick’s camp to get a response to the claim… and they shut him down completely.
“No, that never happened,” said a spokesperson TMZ Sports Activities.
Before joining the Lakers, Redick most recently worked the NBA Finals for ESPN… and had several podcasts, including “Thoughts the Game” with LeBron James – who may opt to remain in LA and play below the previous sharpshooter this offseason.
