Travis Kelce is opening up about her love story with Taylor Swift. The 34-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end got candid on the latest episode of Working with the boys podcast about what made him fall in love with the “End Game” singer.
In September 2023, Swift made her first appearance at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City as the Chiefs faced the Chicago Bears, confirming her romance with the NFL star.
An eyewitness to the game told ET that Taylor was “very normal, just casually watching the game with Mama Kelce (Travis and Jason Kelce’s mother, Donna Kelce).”
Travis confirmed that opinion, noting that Swift refused extra security when she showed up.
“The first game she attended was against the Bears. I thought, ‘OK, I could probably prepare everything for you.’ And she just walked in the front door,” Travis shared on the podcast. “There’s no way to talk to security, make sure it gets to her… She said, ‘I just want to be around family and friends and experience this with everyone.’ She got a lot of points for that. I thought, ‘Damn, she’s crazy, she wants to support me and do things like that.’ She really won me over with that.”
Mentioning Swift’s support at the Super Bowl, Travis noted, “She’s very self-aware…she understands situations like this. someone with so much attention. She just keeps everything so calm and cool.
O New heights the podcast co-host opened up about choosing to keep his romance with Swift public.
“You want to keep things private, but at the same time, I’m not here to hide anything, you know? That’s my girl. That’s my lady,” he said of the chart-topper. “So I’m proud of that. I’m not sitting here trying to juggle, ‘How am I going to keep this a secret?’ You just don’t want to let everyone into her personal life and power to comment knowing that everything she does makes headlines.
He admitted that the added attention from Swifties has been difficult at times, but shared that he’s taking every moment in stride.
“I had fun with almost every aspect,” he said. “It’s just that when you’re at home you want privacy. And you don’t always get that.”
Travis recently took things to the next level during his beloved’s London shows on her Eras Tour. After watching three nights of performances at Wembley Stadium, the athlete shocked fans on the third night carrying Swift on stage in tails and participating in a sweet sketch preparing her for the next set of songs.
A source previously told ET, “Taylor and Travis recently discussed Travis making an onstage appearance on the Eras tour when the timing was right, and they finally made it happen. Travis was so excited to support Taylor on stage, and Taylor couldn’t be happier to introduce him, especially during such a fun and pivotal scene in the series.”
Travis’ special appearance on stage took place during Department of Tortured Poets time when Swift transitions from a dress to a two-piece outfit thanks to her backup dancers. Travis — wearing a black tuxedo and top hat to match Taylor’s other dancers — carried his girlfriend of about a year onto the stage and stood still as his other two dancers removed her dress as he stood back and smiled.
The source told ET that while Travis’ appearance was manicured to perfection — including a sweet moment where he pretended to apply makeup to Taylor’s face before she started singing “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” — he just had a few hours to be together.
The source added: “Travis only had one night of rehearsal, the night before he performed on stage, and he didn’t miss a beat. Taylor was beaming from ear to ear as Travis took on the dapper role. a cameo again in the future.”
