Thrill seekers got more than they bargained for on the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk… people riding the classic roller coaster had to be evacuated near the top of the ride!!!
Footage from the seaside theme park shows several riders being led through the wooden structure of the Giant Dipper on Sunday… holding on to the railing for dear life as they descend a huge ramp. They’re not exactly at the peak of their journey, but they’re certainly climbing.

It’s very scary… the people who were evacuated from the ride got their car stuck at the top of the roller coaster hill… so they have a long way to go. In terms of why they had to leave and come down… we have an answer, and it turns out it was completely necessary.
A representative for the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk tells TMZ … the roller coaster was evacuated after a guest experienced a medical emergency at the ride’s charging station.
We were told there were no accidents with the roller coaster cars…the ride only had to temporarily halt operations to ensure the guest in need was safe, and the passengers were evacuated because it would take too long to sort everything out. .

SCBB says videos show its employees leading evacuations from the front and back of the line… and the Big Dipper is back to normal now.
In fact… this roller coaster is the 4th oldest in the USA and one of the ten oldest in the world. In other words… hold on tight, both on the ride – and on the way down on foot. 😅
