Seth Binzer – the lead singer and co-founder of the rap rock band Loopy City – has died.
Better known by his stage name Shifty Shellshock, Binzer died Monday at a home in Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles County coroner. An investigation is underway to find out the reason for the death.
In 1999, Binzer and fellow vocalist Bret “Epic” Mazurformed Loopy City, hiring Epic Rust, Douglas Miller, James Bradley Jr., Antonio Lorenzo Valli It is Adam Goldstein.
The group released their 2000 single, “Butterfly,” which shot to the top of the Billboard Sizzling 100 music chart. Their debut album, “The Reward Of Recreation,” was also successful, selling more than 1.5 million copies.
However, their 2002 album “Darkhouse” crashed and burned with the public and the band quickly broke up. Years later, they got together again and released a third album, “The Brimstone Sluggers”.
Throughout his life, Binzer had only a few problems with the law. In 2011, he was arrested for having excellent warrants after police responded to a domestic dispute with his girlfriend in Los Angeles in 2023, Binzer was arrested for driving under the influence in South Carolina.

That same year, Binzer and Bobby Reeves – who replaced Mazur as co-vocalist – got into a fight after a show in Myrtle Seashore, SC. TMZ obtained video of the fight, which captured Binzer giving Reeves a reasonably good ass kick. However, Binzer was not arrested and Reeves dismissed it as a “little fight,” saying he loved Shifty.
Binzer was 49 years old.
