The ‘Supernatural’ star said his 2015 stint in a mental health facility reached a low point in his life where he was letting his thoughts “take control.”
Jared Padalecki is being honest about your psychological well-being.
In a clip from the latest episode of Tommy DiDario I never mentioned this before podcastshared by PeopleO Supernatural opened an incident in 2015, during which he found himself admitted to a clinic after having suicidal ideation.
“It was 2015, I had a really low moment,” said Padalecki, who appeared on the podcast alongside his wife, Genevieve Padalecki. “I used to let my thoughts take control and go to places of dramatic suicidal ideation. I called my wife and she said, ‘Go home.’”
He continued: “And then I came home and went to a clinic for a few weeks and thought about it and I haven’t been suicidal since then – not for a second.”

Padalecki said he reached a dark place where he needed help — something he noted he’s not ashamed to admit.
“I wanted a complete reboot,” he explained. “I spent 15 years in this trade. You go to an audition or a red carpet and they don’t ask, ‘Jared, how are you today?’ ‘Ah, these days were difficult, I didn’t sleep.’ They need, ‘Oh, it’s cool! I’m excited to be here! So I’ve done this for so long, trying to focus on what’s best for whoever’s talking to me instead of just being trustworthy.
“I don’t see it as a scarlet letter,” Padalecki added of seeking help. “It’s not like I’m embarrassed like, ‘Hey, I’m seeing a therapist, I went to a clinic.’ I put it on proudly. I put it on my face and let everyone know. If you’re not in a situation where you want this supporting degree, don’t look. I wanted a surgeon – not really – the way I wanted and here I am.”
Although the 41-year-old actor recently says he is doing well, he still goes through ups and downs with his mental health. As for how he handles it, Padalecki says he leans on those closest to him and encourages others to do the same.
“You are a human, I am a human. However, there are ups and downs. And these days we’re down,” he said before getting emotional when mentioning his CW series, walkerbeing cancelled.

The Padalecki-led crime drama was canceled last month after four seasons.
“We want to thank the entire cast, crew, writers, directors and producers of Walker for their hard work and dedication over four incredible seasons,” the CW mentioned in an ad after confirming the information. “We also want to give a special shout-out to star and executive producer Jared Padalecki, who has been a member of the CW family for more than 20 years and has been an integral part of some of the network’s biggest hits.”
“I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about, but I’m very unhappy with Walker (being canceled), with the family,” Padalecki insisted, when discussing the show’s end. “And my tears are not for myself. I know I’ll know for sure because I’m talking to you about it, I’m talking to Gen about it, I’m talking to my friends about it. Please be open, share, discover someone, be it a friend or professional. Talk to reality.

Padalecki also wanted listeners to know that just because they’re in a difficult situation now doesn’t mean they’ll be there forever, adding to have the mindset to keep “open thoughts” and “look to tomorrow, next week, next week.” month, next year”, helped him
“As we speak, it is a difficult day. It’s been a difficult month since we found out, but I’m in a great place with my wife, our kids, my friends, my family,” he assured before insisting: “Seek help, open up.”
