Israel will spend the next few weeks trying to resolve the conflict with the pro-Iranian Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah and will prefer a diplomatic solutionsaid National Security Advisor Chahi Hanegbi.
Furthermore, Israel is discussing with US authorities the possibility of reducing the intensity of Israeli operations in the Gaza Strip with some type of “agreement” with the Hezbollah organization.
“We and the Americans believe and will now dedicate the (next) weeks to an effort to reach an agreement,” Hanegby said at the Herzliya conference.
“If there is no agreement through diplomatic channels, everyone understands that there will have to be an agreement through other means. For now we prefer to focus on the diplomatic campaign.”
The National Security Advisor also said he was discussing with Washington a possible joint effort by the United States, European and Arab countries to find an alternative to Hamas in the government of the Gaza Strip.
